Turkish airlines have announced plans to add the east-slovak city of Kosice to its network. The airline has disclosed the information as part of the public disclosure for investors, without stating exact time of launch of the route, nor schedule. The route will be launched based on aircraft avaiability, the carrier stated.
Kosice would with this move become the first Slovak city to have a scheduled connection to Istanbul and the only one in the network of Turkish Airlines. While the director of Bratislava airport Ivan Trhlik stated, that flights from Bratislava are under negotiation, it is understood that traffic rights are an issue. Turkish Airlines are the carrier designated from Turkey and with the addition of Kosice to its network they will apparently keep their designation, blocking other carriers from operating to Bratislava, which would compete to Turkish flights ex Vienna.
