The Russian lowcost airline Pobeda is dropping its plans to operate flights to Salzburg this winter. The route was only announced and opened for sales last week, and was planned to operate once weekly from 2nd January until 26th March. However, the carrier has seen low demand for the route and in a week sold only 34 tickets for the flights, which forced him to cancel the route, only operating flights on January 2nd and 9th. While Salzburg is a popular ski destination amonst Russians, the carrier opened sales for its flights too late due to missing permissions to operate international flights. This meant russian touroperators secured capacity with other carriers in the meantime.

In comparison, flights of Pobeda from Moscow to Bratislava have sold 5000 tickets within first 16 hours from sales launch. The first flight of Pobeda to Bratislava is scheduled on the upcoming saturday, whereby the carriers booking engine shows 125 seats already.
