Extra flights of Ryanair during the busy christmas period and new flights of Pobeda to Moscow helped to boost the december results of Bratislava airport. In the last month of the year the passanger figures jumped by a whopping 36,5% compared to the same month a year ago. A total of 102 455 passengers have used the airport in the Slovak capital - the best result since at least 2010.
For the whole year the airport was used by 1 563 010 passengers, which is a 15,3% increase vs 2014. It also marks the best result of Bratislava airport since 2011, when 1585 064 passengers were transported.
Bratislava airport is expected to continue its growth also in 2016. The recently launched flights of Ryanair to Berlin and Pobeda to Moscow, both operated daily, should provide a 13,5% growth alone. On top of that, Wizzair is set to launch several routes from Bratislava in 2016, which will increase the growth even further. However it is difficult to predict what impact these routes will have on the figures of the airport as the route selection of Wizzair from Bratislava is rather unusual.
